Night With a Gentleman Farmer

Peter Richardson. Photojournalist, photographer, gentleman farmer and rodeo rider. Allan met Peter at Mosport in the late 60’s. He remembered Peter as a tall blond drink of water who drew in all the thirsty ladies. They were both part of an elite group of photographers in ARPA (The American Racing Press Association). Their distinctive red leather armbands always demanded respect from other photographers. They spent years on the auto-racing circuit producing the best images in the industry.

When Peter came up the street, it was like seeing a Sam Elliott character walking right out of a movie.

He brought us to his place just beyond Orangeville. Although Peter had always been around horses, this was the first time he was able to keep them on his own property. And what a property! A 100-acre farm! He does practically everything himself: taking care of his horses, baling the hay and fixing whatever needs fixin’. I’d say this cowboy is still a thirst-quencher.
